I already have a degree, but I am now interested in teaching.
How
do I obtain licensure?
You have two ways to seek licensure, depending on whether you
want to commit to going to school in the summer AND whether or not you
are teaching currently.
Option #1: The PAL Program. Available for candidates
in secondary, middle, and special licensure areas. The
Piedmont Alternative Licensure Program (PAL) offers a 15-month, 23
credit hour program that leads to SP1 (Standard Professional 1) license. See the PAL Program web site for more information.
Option #2: Regular lateral entry. We will evaluate your
transcript and tell you exactly which courses you'll need to fulfill
the requirements for licensure.
Notes:
- You can take all the education courses at night or in
the late afternoons.
- Your admission to this program is NOT dependent on whether
you are currently teaching.
- You apply through Professional and Graduate Studies. (see Admission,
above.)
For more information, see our Teacher Education pages.
