Greensboro vs. 6, NC Wesleyan

DANVILLE, Va. – In game one of the
USA South Conference Tournament the Pride of Greensboro College defeated
the N.C. Wesleyan College Bishops by a final of 6-0.
Greensboro College started the game
quickly, scoring two runs off of five hits in the first two innings of
play. The game remained at 2-0 until Greensboro engineered a well-played
sixth inning, scoring three more runs on four hits, including a sharply
hit double down the right field line by Chad Clark that scored two
runs.
On the day for Greensboro College,
Brent Justice was three-for-five with one run, and Jesse Sutton was
three-for-four with one run and one RBI. Also for Greensboro, Andrew
Keever pitched a complete-game shutout giving up only five hits and
striking out three.
For N.C. Wesleyan, Ryan Snyder was
two-for-four, and Blake Rice also pitched a complete game, striking out
three.
N.C. Wesleyan will play Friday at
1:15 PM against a team to be decided in a later game, and Greensboro plays
Friday at 4:30 PM against Methodist College.

Greensboro Defeats Averett, 4-0
Raleigh, N.C. -- Second
seeded Greensboro College shut out Averett, 4-0, in a first round game
of the USA South Softball Tournament at the Buffaloe Creek Athletic Park
on Friday.
GC's Jamie Pittman (7-3) hurled
the shutout. She struck out two and allowed no base on balls in the contest.
Jessica Clack, GC's ninth hitter, led The Pride at the plate. She
was 2-2 with one run scored. Frances Constantino was 1-3 with a
run, 2 RBI and a stolen base.
Katie Jimmo went 2-3 to lead Cougar
hitters. Brittany Ester took the loss for AU.
AU faces Peace in an elimination
game on Friday at 7 p.m. GC faces Fermum at 11 a.m. on Saturday.
