Pride Cheerleading FAQ page:

Q: What are the requirements for becoming a Pride cheerleader?

A: Please check out the Required Skills page.  Also check out the Try-out Info page to learn about try-outs at Greensboro College!

Q: What kind of squad does GC have?

A: The Greensboro College Cheer Program has one team consisting of both males and females

Q: Does GC have a competitive cheer team?

A: YES!  The Greensboro College Pride Cheerleading team does compete.  Team competitions will be determined on a year to year basis by the Head Coach.

Q:  What if I can’t make the tryout date?

A: Video or DVD submissions are acceptable, but the coach must receive tapes/DVDs before the try-out date.   In the video cheerleaders must show a cheer, a chant and a dance as well as their stunting and tumbling ability.

            **APRIL try-outs: try-outs forms MUST accompany Video/DVD.

**Aug/Sept try-outs: Video submissions are not applicable.

Q: Are freshmen eligible to try-out?

A: YES! Freshmen are welcome to come to either the April or Aug/Sept try-outs.  If the cheerleader is interested in the April try-outs, but unable to travel to GC, they may submit a Video.  Incoming freshman must be accepted to GC and submit a copy of their acceptance letter for the April try out.

Q: What is the practice schedule?

A: The coach will set the practice schedule.  GC cheerleaders are committed to class first and cheerleading second.  Cheerleading should come before any other extracurricular activity and or jobs.

- All members must attend practices and cardio and weight lifting     sessions.

- One practice a week will be tumbling at the local gymnastics            facility and will be attended by ALL team members.

-All cheer practices are 2.5 to 3 hours long, all tumbling practices are 1.5 hours long.  In general practices will be in the afternoon/evenings with some practices being held at 6:00am.

Q: If I am still in high school and interested in cheering at GC in college, can I come visit practice and talk to members of the team?

A: YES! If you are still in high school and are interested in continuing your cheerleading career here at GC, please e-mail Head Coach Appenzeller at eappenzeller@gborocollege.edu.  We would love to have you visit!  Some weekends in the fall and spring semester are dedicated as Cheerleading Recruiting weekends so check the website recruiting information tab.

Q: If I make the team in April do I have to attend camp?

A: YES! All cheerleaders selected to the team in April must attend summer camp.

Q: What will I have to pay out of pocket for?

A: The only items that cheerleaders are responsible to pay for are their shoes and bloomers.  We work every year to get a good price on both of those items.

*NOTE:  If you have a question that is not addressed above, please send it to Head Cheerleading Coach Elizabeth Appenzeller at eappenzeller@gborocollege.edu.
