About the Pride Cheerleaders:  The Greensboro College Pride Cheerleaders are a cheerleading team consisting of males and females. The team is responsible for the spirit and support of all Greensboro College Athletics.  The team cheers for home football games.  The team also cheers for both men’s and women’s home basketball games and conference tournament play.  Team competition will be determined by Coach Appenzeller.

Member Requirements:  A squad member must be in good academic standing to be on the team.  Cheerleading is a yearlong commitment.  All Cheerleaders are required to participate in all team activities.  Activities include:  summer practice, camp, fall try-outs, team clinics, all home football games, men’s and women’s home basketball games and conference tournaments, fundraisers, public appearances, pep rally’s community service events, practices, workouts, performances and any other event that is scheduled.  Our cheerleading budget covers: uniforms, cheer bags, poms and warm-ups.  The cheerleaders are responsible for their bloomers (females only), socks, shoes, and bodysuit (females only).

Scholarships:  All students who are selected for the Greensboro College Cheerleading team are eligible for a performance scholarship.  Cheerleaders must meet all of their member requirements in order to be eligible for a performance scholarship.  The performance scholarship is credited to their account at the end of the year with the understanding that it can be forfeited if the cheerleader does not keep up his/her academic standing or fails to comply with the team rules and responsibilities.

Try-Out Requirements:  To be eligible for April cheerleading try-outs, students must be currently enrolled or incoming freshman/transfer students who have been accepted for the fall 2008 semester at Greensboro College. Try-outs will consist of cheer, chant, dance, jumps, stunts and tumbling.  We are looking for good strong fundamental skills and positive attitudes.  Cheerleaders must turn in all required paperwork prior to participation in try-outs.
