AnDrew Keever, a rising senior and a three-year member of the Pride baseball team, was presented the Craven E. Williams Scholar Athlete Award on May 2nd.

A native of Annapolis, Md., Keever has been the ace of The Pride baseball pitching staff the past two seasons. He has nearly a 3.0 GPA, and majors in applied computer science.

Keever was a second team all-USA South pick this year and helped GC to a 24-16 record: the third most wins in program history. In 2004, he was the conference Pitcher-of-the-Year, and was named 1st Team All Region.

The son of Kirk & Kathy Keever, AnDrew already holds a number of GC baseball records. He is the single-season wins leader, single-season ERA leader, holds the career GC wins record and has the most complete games and shutouts in program history.

Off the field, Keever is a member of both the Student Athlete Advisory Committee and Theta XI. He also volunteers with Habitat for Humanity and assists in the Greensboro College information technology department.

AnDrew Keever receives 2004-05 Craven E. Williams Award from the President and John Bayersdorfer (right), assistant to the President.

The Williams award was to recognize outstanding student-athletes who combine athletics excellence with scholarship and service. Honorees must be rising seniors, and each winner is selected by vote of the Athletic Department staff.
Recipients are chosen on the basis of academic success, athletics accomplishments and contributions within their sport, as well as his or her involvement in the campus or greater Greensboro communities.

Winners personify the ideal model of the scholar-athlete: outstanding students in the classroom who extend themselves beyond an academic setting—through interaction and involvement with peers, or in community service.

Greensboro College, founded in 1838 and affiliated with the United Methodist Church, is located in the College Hill Historic District of Greensboro, N.C. With an enrollment of approximately 1300 men and women, the College stresses a small community atmosphere and maintains a student-to-faculty ratio of 14-1.

Greensboro College was ranked number one in teacher education programs in the Institutions of Higher Education Performance Report released by the State Board of Education. The Pride fields intercollegiate athletic teams in 16 sports.
