Megan Nutt, a rising senior at Greensboro College, was presented the Craven E. Williams Scholar Athlete Award on May 1st.

A three-year member of the Greensboro College women’s soccer team, Nutt sports a 3.69 grade point average and is majoring in art. She won the Most Improved award on the 2002-03 team and was a member of two conference champion and NCAA playoff teams. Pride Head Coach Tracy Ducar projects Megan to be a starter and captain on the 2005 squad.

Hailing from Pensacola, Fla., Nutt's extracurricular activities are extensive. She is a member of the Inter-Club Council Honorary Society, Art Students League, American Marketing Association, Fellowship of Christian Athletes, and is a Resident Assistant.

The daughter of Arthur and Deborah Nutt, she is a four-time member of the Dean's List and has earned a spot on both the GC Athletic Director's Honor Roll, and the USA South Academic Team.

The Williams award was to recognize outstanding student-athletes who combine athletics excellence with scholarship and service. Honorees must be rising seniors, and each winner is selected by vote of the Athletic Department staff.
Recipients are chosen on the basis of academic success, athletics accomplishments and contributions within their sport, as well as his or her involvement in the campus or greater Greensboro communities.

Winners personify the ideal model of the scholar-athlete: outstanding students in the classroom who extend themselves beyond an academic setting—through interaction and involvement with peers, or in community service.

Greensboro College, founded in 1838 and affiliated with the United Methodist Church, is located in the College Hill Historic District of Greensboro, N.C. With an enrollment of approximately 1300 men and women, the College stresses a small community atmosphere and maintains a student-to-faculty ratio of 14-1.

Greensboro College was ranked number one in teacher education programs in the Institutions of Higher Education Performance Report released by the State Board of Education. The Pride fields intercollegiate athletic teams in 16 sports.
