Village 401/Pride of Service Award
For the third time, the Village 401 Community Outreach Office will present an athletic Pride of Service award. Rachel Hutto will present this honor.
This award is presented to the athletic team that made the most significant contributions to the Village 401 Office through attendance and participation in events. The Pride of Service award also recognizes the team that has made an impact within the village through their outreach efforts during the 2006-2007 academic year.
The winner of this year's honor is: Greensboro College Cheerleading! Pride Cheerleading has been active serving the community in the following ways:
-Attended and supported the Block Party and Volunteer Service Fair
-Assisted with the Hunger Banquet, an effort that raised $400.00 for Vidas de Esperanza, an in house non-profit
-Sponsored a child for Greensboro College’s annual Angel Tree Celebration
-Served at Foul Shots for Tots, an event sponsored by SAAC
-Served as escorts for Project Leap, our Easter Celebration for area youth agencies
Congratulations, Coach Appenzeller, to you and your team for your heartfelt support of the community at large.

Trey Taylor Award
Our next special honor is presented by GC Head Baseball Coach Ken Carlyle. The Trey Taylor Award honors the baseball player: chosen by his teammates--who combines baseball skill with a commitment to team and teammates, above and beyond self. This award is presented in memory of a fallen teammate, Trey Taylor, who possessed all of these fine qualities and passed away during the 1997 season.
Greensboro College is pleased to have Mr. and Mrs. Taylor in attendance with us once again to celebrate this achievement, which is in memory of their son, Trey.
The winner of the 2007 Baseball Trey Taylor award is sophomore Jeff Guerrie (Gear-ee). “Jeff is the perfect example of what this award is about, dedication, hard work, determination and being a great teammate,” said Coach Carlyle. “He is the hardest worker we have on the team day in and day out. Jeff gives a 100% every day, and I hope his hard work will rub off on his teammates.”
Congratulations, Jeff! And our thanks go to Mr. and Mrs. Taylor for your support of this special recognition.

Athletic training/AT Service Award
Our next honoree receives the Athletic Training Service Award, presented tonight by Ted Eaves, GC’s head athletic trainer.
Justin Battle has been named the 2006-07 athletic training service award winner, and we invite him to come forward…
Justin has spent the past year working with the football team and off-site at Greensboro Orthopedics. This year especially, Justin has demonstrated the dedication, work ethic, creativity, and willingness to learn that are necessary to be both an excellent athletic training student… and the recipient of this award.

Power Pride Award
The "Power Pride Award” goes to an individualfaculty, staff, student, or booster--who has gone above and beyond in supporting Greensboro College athletics and its teams. The honor was established in the year 2000.
This year’s Power Pride recipient is “one of us.” He is a Greensboro College graduate, a former member of GC athletics, and a current GC staff member.
As director of Greensboro College student activities, Danny Mackey enthusiastically supports the green and white. Please come forward, Danny, to receive this honor.
In his capacity as director of student activities, Danny has paid for student admission to conference and NCAA tournament events and even loaned his high-quality sound system to athletics for numerous events.
On his own time, he has volunteered countless hours as the PrideNet basketball “play-by-play man” the past two years. Some of you may not be aware of the fact that before Danny was “Spaz” for the Greensboro Grasshoppers, he was one of the best student Leosour beloved mascot--this campus has seen!
In summary, Greensboro College athletics greatly values having Danny as part of our team. It is with great appreciation and sincerity that we present the 2006-07 Power Pride Award to Danny Mackey!
