2007-08 PRIDE ATHLETICS CONVOCATION SCRIPT
Most Valuable Players
MVP PowerPoint
Our last of the “team awards” goes to each team’s Most Valuable Player. MVPs demonstrate their value in many ways. MVPs display abilities and an overall presence, making them indispensable to teammates… and a major challenge to opponents. Quite simply, the most valuable player is the individual judged to be the most integral to the team’s success. Each of the following student-athletes demonstrated just that with their Pride performances in 2006-07.
The women’s soccer offensive MVP is senior Ashley Cabral. “Ashley won many accolades but it was her hard work and determination that helped her be among the nation’s best,” Coach Bari said. “Her strong efforts towards the success of the team will truly be missed."
The swimming MVP is junior Alex Cooke. “Alex won the 50 and 100 freestyle at Atlantic States Championships for the third consecutive year,” Coach Budde said. “She broke four more school records this year and currently owns seven of the fourteen individual Pride records.”
Josh Cumming is the golf MVP. “Josh is an exceptionally talented golfer and he was a pleasure to coach this season,” said Coach Tiernan. “We could always count on Josh to play a solid round and he never gave up on the golf course.”
The MVP in men’s soccer is junior Bobby Dabbs. "Bobby is a true leader and a fierce competitor,” Coach Brady said. “He was the heart and soul of the team and made the game easier for his teammates due to his skill and desire."
The volleyball Defensive MVP is Sarah Joy Daniels. "Joy played a very important role for us this year she was a leader both on and off the court,” Coach Lojko said. “Joy is one of the best defensive players I have ever coached and deserved the Libero of the Year Award in the USA South.”
The women’s basketball MVP is freshman Danielle Duncan. "We are fortunate to have a freshman like Danielle that can make such a great immediate impact,” said Coach Tuggle. “Her solid post play and overall leadership helped keep this program on the national level."
The most valuable men’s lacrosse player is junior goalkeeper Mike Foderaro. “Mike is the backbone of our defense,” said Coach Cetrone. “He is the leader that everyone looks to in difficult times. He continues to make his teammates better with his effort on and off the field.”
Senior Logan Greene is the football team’s defensive MVP. “Logan has been the anchor of our defensive line for the past three years and has earned the respect of his competition with three straight first team all conference honors,” Coach Mitchell said. “Much of our success defensively was due to Logan being such a disruptive force on the defensive line.” |
Sophomore Christie Hebert is the MVP in women’s lacrosse. "Christie stood out as a leader and scored her 100th career goal—an impressive total for a sophomore,” Coach Dixon said. “Christie is a joy to coach, and I am excited to see all the great things she can accomplish."
