Junior Tracey Comune again stole the headlines for the 2000 GC cross country team.

The Pequannock (N.J.) native broke her own Greensboro College 5,000 meter record this year. She ran a 21:47 over the 5K course at Hagan Stone Park to smash the mark she set last season.

In the Dixie Conference championships, Comune also repeated her performance of 1999; she earned second team DIAC honors. Comune finished 12th in the race.

The Pride also got strong performances this season from Tara Gibson (19th at the DIAC) and senior captain Staci Clark (22nd).

On the men’s side, Greensboro’s top performer was freshman Kevin Eagan. Eagan, who came to GC on a Presidential Scholarship—the top academic award given at GC— ran a 34:54 8K on Sept. 30.

In addition, Kyle Stein ran the best of his career in 2000. The senior ran a 38:14 at Hagan Stone Park for his personal best.

To find optimism in Pride cross country, look no further than its coach, Jill Shusterman. Shusterman took over the head harrier job at GC late in the summer. In a short time, she turned the program into a fun, hard-working and motivated team.
