Pride XC Earns Seven USA South Awards;
GC Men 2nd and Women 3rd at USAS Meet

The 2005 Greensboro College cross country teams earned seven USA South post season honors—the most in program history.

GC produced three all-conference first team runners: Bett Shelby, Mike Barnard and Doug Holbrook. Jasmin Duncan and Johnnie Williams earned USA second team honors.

At the USA South Championships, held Oct. 29th at nearby Hagan Stone Park, the GC men placed second and the women's team finished third. Barnard was fourth and Holbrook placed fifth individually on the men's side. Shelby was 10th for The Pride women.

The Greensboro men later competed at the South region championships in Conway, Ark. All five Pride runners recorded personal bests as GC placed 16th. Holbrook broke his Pride record with a 27:06 time and finished 50th. The senior also holds The Pride 5K record and earned all-conference honors all four years at GC.

"We did some great things this year," said Head Coach Jason Tuggle. "We'll certainly miss the graduating seniors, but we expect to build on the strong foundation they helped form."

2005 Pride Honors: Doug Holbrook, 1st Team USA South, USAS championships meet team; Michael Barnard, USA South 1st Team, USAS championships meet team; Johnnie Williams, USA South 2nd Team; Bett Shelby, USA South 1st Team; Jasmin Duncan, USA South 2nd Team.
