Greensboro College

Head Cross Country Coach

Jason Tuggle enters his sixth year leading the Greensboro College cross country teams in 2008.

In 2006, Tuggle coached GC's first conference rookie of the year and all-region runner in Francois Theriualt. In all, GC earned 7 postseason honors by three runners in '06. The next season, GC had four men's all conference runners, including first-temer Theriault.

Tuggle led the 2005 team to seven all-conference honors--including three first team performers--which is the most in program history. He coached The Pride men to second place finishes at the USA South championships in '04 and '05. Under Tuggle's tutelage, Doug Holbrook previously set the men's 5K and 10K program records.

Tuggle also leads The Pride women's basketball team. He led The program to back-to-back conference regular season and tournament championships and to second round of the NCAA tournament in 2004-05 and 2005-06. He has been named USA coach of the year three times in his four seasons leading Pride women's hoops.

A native of Eden, N.C., Tuggle has strong roots in the local community. In addition to playing basketball, he ran cross country at Morehead High School.

Tuggle arrived at GC after serving as an assistant basketball coach at UNC Greensboro for three seasons. Under Head Coach Lynne Agee at UNCG, Tuggle handled in-state recruiting of underclassmen for the Spartans. He also ran the team’s strength and conditioning program, helped coordinate camps, and assisted with scouting.

From 1994-97, Tuggle was an assistant coach at Western Guilford while a student at UNCG. He taught marketing at the school during the 1998-99 academic year, after spending one year teaching the same subject at Northwest Guilford High School.

A 1997 graduate of UNCG, Tuggle earned a bachelor of science in marketing and management. He also earned his master's degree in business education at the University in 2000.

Tuggle and his wife Heather reside in Eden. They have three young daughters: Blair, Reece and Paige.
