GREENSBORO, N.C.-- Ferrum College
outscored Greensboro College 12-0 in the fourth quarter en route to a 25-13
Dixie Conference football win at Jamieson Stadium on Saturday night.
The Panther's Moncrief Holmes
scampered 65 yards for the game-winning score with 12:30 left in the contest.
Holmes had a team-leading 84 yards on 8 carries for Ferrum. FC had 253

Ferrum scored a late touchdown--on
a 5-yard run by Anthony Jones--that changed a tight battle to the
25-13 final score. The touchdown was set up by an interception of GC quarterback
Anthony
"Boomer" Durham. Durham was intercepted 4 time by the Panthers and
completed 9-33 passes for 133 yards and 1 TD. FC's Darren Venable
had two picks for Ferrum.
Ferrum raced out to a 10-0 lead, but
Greensboro countered with two second- quarter scores to lead 13-10. Ricky
Moore caught a 23-yard pass for the first TD, and Durham had a one-yard
run for the later. Erik Naglee's second PAT was blocked.
GC's Quentin Caldwell was the
game's leading rusher with 126 yards on 28 carries.
With the win the Panthers (5-3, 5-0
DIAC) will likely face Christopher Newport in two weeks for the DIAC championship--and
an NCAA bid. Ferrum hosts Salisbury next week. Greensboro (3-5, 3-2 DIAC)
host DIAC rival Methodist next Saturday at 1 p.m.
