Greensboro, N.C. – Aided by a Quentin Caldwell touchdown run and two Erik Naglee field goals, Greensboro College defeated Methodist, 13-3, in a Dixie Conference game at Jamieson Stadium on Saturday afternoon.

With the win, The Pride achieved its first ever victory over conference rival Methodist in its sixth try.  The victory also improved The Pride to 4-2 in the DIAC, its best conference record in the school history.

The Pride (4-2, 4-5) was able to hold the Dixie conference's best scoring team (22.6 PPG avg.) to just a first quarter field goal.  The Monarchs D.J. Nance recorded a 22-yard field goal at the 7:29 mark of the first.

Yet GC would counter with the game’s next 13 points.

On the ensuing drive, the Pride got a Naglee 40-yard field goal that would  bounced off the crossbar.

Caldwell (15 carries for 122 yards) then scampered 23-yards as GC took a 10-3 lead with 6:41 left in the half. The Pride held the Cougars on a key goal-line stand just before the break.

Naglee booted a 27-yard field goal to complete the game scoring at 13-3 with 5:20 left in the contest.

Methodist (3-6, 2-3) was led by Demarcus Wilson (13 carries 61 yards) on offense. Jamaal Leggette led MC with 10 tackles (9 solo). The Monarchs close 2002 with a DIAC clash at Shenandoah next Saturday.

In addition to Caldwell, Marc Clapp had a good day running the ball. The sophomore gained 93 yards on 21 carries. On defense, Mike Osinska had a game-leading 11 tackles (2 solo) in the game. Fellow GC LB Josh Daniels had 10 tackles (1 solo). DB Ian Mosher had 9 tackles (6 solo).

Greensboro closes the season with a home game against Washington & Lee next Saturday.
