Charlotte, N.C. -- Priest
Everhart, a former football player at Greensboro College, has signed
a contract to play with the Charlotte Sharks of the Atlantic Indoor Football
League.
Everhart--who played at GC in 1999,
'00 and '02--is ninth on the GC all-time receiving list (254 yards) and
10th in all-purpose yardage (603 yards). He becomes the second Pride footballer
to play professionally. Kicker James Thomas played two seasons with the
Greensboro Prowlers of AF2.
The Sharks are among six teams in
the AIFL, a new circuit that hopes to develop talent for the Arena Football
League, the CFL and NFL Europe. The team is owned by Theron Davis, a former
player with the AFL's Charlotte Rage. Former NFL players Natrone Means
and Yancey Thigpen have advisory roles with the club.
The Sharks begin their 12-game season
on April 16. Home games will be played in the Cricket Arena.
