New Opponents Highlight 2005
Greensboro, N.C. -- The 2005 Greensboro College football team opens the season with three road games at opponents GC has never faced: Davidson, Maryville and Southern Virginia. Greensboro begins the year at NCAA Division IAA Davidson. The only other IAA foe the program has played is Jacksonville. The Pride lost at Jacksonville 47-41 in 2 OTs in ‘99. The Pride fell to the Dolphins, 35-14, at Jamieson Stadium the previous season. GC then travels to first-year USA South football member Maryville, TN on Sept. 17. Prior to its home opener--the Souper Bowl vs. Guilford on Oct. 1—The Pride heads to Southern Virginia. The remaining games are against USA South opposition. CNU, an NCAA Division III playoff qualifier the past three years, visits Jamieson Stadium on Oct. 8 . The squad heads to Shenandoah to face the defending USAS champions the next Saturday. Greensboro hosts Averett on Oct. 22 for homecoming. GC then travels to Ferrum before closing the year with Methodist on Nov. 5, and NC Wesleyan for the regular season finale (Nov. 12). Coach Neal Mitchell's team hopes to improve on a 2-8 season in 2004. The Pride plays home games at Jamieson Stadium on the campus of Grimsley High. Tickets are $5 for adults and $3 for students. Children under 12 are admitted free. Date,
