The Pride golf team returns four players from last season's team that finished second in the USA South Conference Tournament. The team will be led by junior Josh Cumming, who earned second team all-conference honors last season and made the USA South all-tournament team. Cumming was co-medalist at the 2007 Emory Invitational and was runner-up in the Connecticut Amateur last summer. "Josh is a confident, complete player who should be one of the top players in the conference this season," said first-year head coach Scott Tiernan. Cumming is joined by seniors Chase Pinchot and Dustin Maher and sophomore John Frazier. Pinchot saw a lot of tournament action last season and The Pride will rely on his experience. "We need Chase to step up with several rounds in the mid 70s," said Coach Tiernan. "We expect him to be a leader on this year's team." Freshman Joshua Ryals joins the team this season. Ryals should compete for the second or third position on the roster. "We expect Josh to step right in and be one of the top players on our team," Tiernan said.
The Pride opens its season at the Ted Keller Invitational in Richmond, VA on September 15-16. On October 1-2 Greensoboro College hosts its home tournament at the Champions Course at Bryan Park, site of the 2010 US Public Links Championship.
