Four Greensboro College student-athletes
earned weekly honors awarded by the USA South Athletic Conference for their
performances last week. The GC winners were:
-Men's Soccer Player of the
Week
Ben Maxwell The junior from
Raleigh, NC scored all four goals in the Pride's 4-0 win over Bethany and
passed for two assists in a 3-0 victory over Salisbury. Maxwell was named
MVP of the Spevco Pride Classic Tournament.
-Women's Soccer Player of the
Week
Jessica Upchurch The Odenton,
MD sophomore scored both Pride goals in a 2-1 double overtime win over
Haverford and the lone goal in a 1-1 overtime tie with Muhlenberg.
-Women's Soccer Rookie of the
Week
Kristen McGuire The freshman
from Sewell, NJ played 47 minutes in goal, recorded seven saves and gave
up only one goal in the Pride's 2-1 overtime victory over Haverford.
-Volleyball Rookie of the Week
Lauren Smith: The freshman
from Raleigh, NC led the Pride to a 3-0 performance at the Greensboro Tournament.
She recorded eight kills in a 3-0 win over Meredith; eight kills in a 3-0
victory over Guilford and nine kills in a 3-0 win over Lynchburg. GC won
its own torunament last weekend.
