GREENSBORO, N.C. -- Freshman Eric Hatchett scored one goal and passed for one assist as Greensboro College (5-3-1) defeated Maryville College (5-3-2), 3-0, at Pride field in a non-conference match on Thursday.

Hatchett scored just 2:29 into the match. He tallied after GC defender Matt Mulvena stole the ball in the Maryville end and directed a pass to Hatchett.

The game's last score came 11:58 into the match. Galen Reid scored on crossing pass from Hatchett.

The Pride out shot the Fighting Scots, 8-6. MC keeper Adam Gutzman made five saves. His counterpart, Matt Brown, collected one save for the home club. Brown earned his second straight shutout--and third overall--in the GC win.

The Pride, ranked seventh in the South region, plays at Salisbury University on Saturday. The Sea Gulls are rated first in the region and third in the nation.
