BUIES CREEK, N.C. -- Twelve student-athletes form the 2004 North Carolina Collegiate Sports Information Association (NCCSIA) College Division All-State Men's Soccer Team released on Thursday.

The team consists of NCAA Division II, NCAA Division III and NAIA student-athletes from North Carolina colleges and universities.  Nominees were submitted by North Carolina sports information professionals.  NCCSIA members voted for the all-state teams.

The All-State soccer teams include one goalkeeper, three defenders, four midfielders and three forwards (plus those involved in ties).  Teams are selected for men and women in both the college and university (NCAA Division I) divisions.  The women's university division squad was announced Monday.  The women's college and men's university division teams will be released next week.

The 2004 NCCSIA men's soccer college division all-state team is headed by three members from both Mount Olive College and Wingate University.  In addition, three team members were repeat selections from last year's inaugural all-state unit Kenny Crowe (Catawba), Sascha Gorres (UNC Pembroke) and Aaron Holcomb (Greensboro).

Founded in 2002, The North Carolina Collegiate Sports Information Association (NCCSIA) is comprised of sports information professionals from NCAA Division I, II, III, NAIA and independent institutions from the state of North Carolina.  The purpose of the organization is to promote collegiate athletics at all schools.  Membership is open to anyone affiliated with a college, university or conference located in North Carolina, and whose area of responsibility lies within sports information.  NCSSIA also selects all-state teams for men’s and women’s basketball, softball and baseball.

Membership information on NCCSIA may be obtained from treasurer Bob Lowe (blowe@gborocollege.edu) or on-line at www.nccsia.org.

A trio of players who led Mount Olive to its first-ever Carolinas-Virginia Athletic Conference Championship and set a school record for most wins in a season (14-5-3), were selected for the NCCSIA all-state unit.

Freshman Chris Roush was named the all-state keeper after earning MVP honors at the CVAC tournament.  The Swansboro, N.C., native finished the year with a 0.887 goals-against average and four shutouts (including two in the league tournament).
