GREENSBORO, N.C. -- Aaron Holcomb
scored one goal and passed for one assist as Greensboro College defeated
Methodist, 3-1, in a USA South match at Macpherson Stadium on Thursday
night.
Adam Sellars put GC ahead
in the 21st minute. Richard Engel earned the assist on the play.
The Pride held a 1-0 lead at the break.
Greensboro took a 2-0 lead in the
62nd minute. Holcomb assisted Galen Reid on a give-and-go play.
Methodist cut the margin to 2-1 two
minutes later when Andrew Neff converted a penalty kick.
Holcomb tallied in the 79th minute
for the match's final score. He headed the ball past MC goalie Justin Agema
(3 saves). Dwyer Gray crossed a nice pass and earned the assist.
The Pride out shot the Monarchs,
15-4. Matt Brown grabbed two saves for GC.
With the win, The Pride clinched
at least a share of second place in the USA South regular season.
