Greensboro College Men's Tennis
Team Battled in Tough Year

The 2005 Greensboro College men's tennis team fielded a unit short on experience, but not on competitive desire.

Number one singles player P.G. Grane led the 2005 Pride men’s tennis team. Playing the region’s best players, he recorded a 10-4 record at the top singles flight. Following the regular season, Grane was picked to the USA South second team and was named team MVP.

A season highlight for GC was a 6-1 win at Shenandoah. Yet The Pride had three other close matches—4-3 losses—that showed the team’s competitiveness. At the conference championships, Greensboro placed fifth.

"I was proud of the way our guys battled," said Associate Head Coach Chris Cline. "This was an enjoyable group to work with and they played with fire every match."

The men’s tennis team loses only one player to graduation—senior Carlo Gonzales. With new head coach and local pro Dave McCain leading both the men’s and women’s teams next season, the future of GC tennis is in experienced hands.

Pride Postseason Honors:   P.G Grane, USA South second team; Team MVP; Edwin Arnaudin, GC coaches' award; Ben Roberts, outstanding newcomer.
