Kim Alan Strable, originally from Celina, Ohio, earned a B.A. degree with a double major in speech communication and physical education from Albion College (MI) in 1975. While attending Albion, Strable earned varsity letters in football and baseball.  As a graduate school student he also served on his alma mater’s men’s basketball coaching staff.

In 1981, Strable earned an M.A. degree in Physical Education at Western Michigan University. While completing his graduate studies at WMU, he worked as an administrator, teacher and coach at a county juvenile detention and treatment center in Marshall (MI.).

Strable was an administrator at Albion and Guilford colleges before joining the Greensboro athletic staff in 1989. He became Greensboro's first full-time athletics director, and oversaw the growth of GC's athletic department from 8 teams to 16 teams in a ten year period. He also served a two-year stint as President of the Dixie Conference and later chaired the committee that recommended the renaming of the conference as the USA South Athletic Conference. He is currently serving a two year term as Vice President of the USA South.

Strable coached The Pride men's tennis team for eight years (1994-2001). In the spring of 2000, he led The Pride to one of its best seasons ever, as Greensboro achieved an overall record of 13-4, and a second place finish in the Dixie Conference. The team was ranked #9 by the ITA in the South Region of NCAA Division III. Strable also earned DIAC Men’s Tennis Coach-of-the-Year honors in 1997. He returned to the courts to lead The Pride women’s tennis team to an 11-5 record for the spring 2005 season.

An active participant in several local sporting organizations, Strable serves on the board of directors for the Greensboro Sports Commission and is also a member of the Greensboro Sports Council.  In addition, he is on the Board of Directors for the Central North Carolina Fellowship of Christian Athletes.  Strable formerly served on the Greensboro Youth Soccer Association Board of Directors and served as the South region's representative on the NCAA Men's Soccer Committee.  He had an instrumental role in securing the NCAA Division III Men’s and Women’s Soccer Championships held in Greensboro in 2004 and 2005 at Bryan Park’s McPherson Stadium.

A member of the United States Tennis Association (USTA), the Intercollegiate Tennis Association (ITA), and the National Association of Collegiate Directors of Athletics (NACDA) Strable is a certified instructor with the United States Professional Tennis Registry. He serves on staff for the Broyhill Leadership Conferences and also conducts summer tennis camps for the Alex Spears Family YMCA.  He and his wife, Cindy, have three children and a grandchild and reside in Greensboro.
