The Greensboro College men's basketball team made incredible strides in 2006-07. Under second year Head Coach Bryan Galuski, GC finished 20-7 and shared the USA South regular season championship. It was GC's third conference championship and first since the 1984-85 campaign.

The Pride started the year with 5 wins and had an impressive 9-1 record after 10 games. During the season, GC defeated two NCAA playoff teams and also lost two contests in overtime to NCAA tourney participants.

Greensboro fielded a talented mix of returnees and newcomers. In the starting lineup, two Pride veterans—Bryant Camp and Michael McDuffie—were joined by three newcomers: Lynn Bright, Adam Nicholson and Bruce Zamuel.

Bright led Greensboro in scoring (17.4 points) and rebounding (7.7). Following the regular season, the junior forward was named USA South player of the year. Bright was joined on the all-conference first team by junior guard Nicholson. He scored 16.4 points for The Pride and led the squad with 47 three-point baskets. Zamuel was third on the club in scoring (9.6 ppg).

"This was definitely a great season for us," Galuski said. "The wins and the accolades mean a lot for our program. I am most proud of the way this team meshed together as a unit."

GC hosted Shenandoah in the first round of the conference tournament and defeated the Hornets 86-75. The Pride then faced NC Wesleyan in the semifinals in Newport News, Va. The upstart Bishops avenged two earlier defeats to the green and white with an 84-76 victory.

Despite its regular season title and being one of just 48 teams nationally with 20 or more wins, The Pride's bid for an NCAA berth came up short.

James Newman, George Greene and Camp closed their Pride careers on a high note. "Our seniors have been a big part of the program's turnaround," said Galuski. "But the team got a taste of success and we expect to be even better next year."
