GC 14, Guilford 8
Visiting Greensboro College defeated
cross-town rival Guilford, 14-8, in a men’s lacrosse game at Armfield Athletic
Center on Wednesday.
The Pride improved to 3-4 while the
Quakers dropped to 3-3. The win was Greensboro College’s seventh straight
over the Quakers and 11th of 14 in the all-time series.
The visitors won 18-25 face-offs,
including 8-8 in the second quarter. Nick DeFelice was 12-16 and
Steve Turza 3-3 on draws for The Pride. Greensboro led 4-2 after
15 minutes and built an 11-3 halftime lead. GC out shot Guilford, 42-33
and scooped 44 to Guilford’s 38 ground balls.
Matt Perry tallied three goals
and had four assists for The Pride. Nick Harness netted three goals
and passed for two assists. GC netminder Corey Reina garnered 11
saves and allowed 6 goals. Backup goalie Will Sepich played the
last 3:43 minutes and allowed two goals.
