Greensboro College men’s lacrosse finished with an 8-6 record in 2005an impressive resume when you consider The Pride faced four NCAA playoff teams and a total of eight opponents who were nationally ranked during the season.
The team started the year in impressive fashion. The green and white won its first four games, and received a top 25 national consideration among the sport’s pollsters. Highlights in the early season included a convincing 16-10 win over NCAA-bound Cabrini, and an exciting overtime win against Virginia Wesleyan.
Junior Matt Perry and freshman Jordan Keeney were GC’s scoring leaders. Goalkeeper Corey Reina and the defense played strong in the nets all season.
Near year's end, The Pride posted road winsall by seven goals or moreover Mary Washington, Randolph Macon and Villa Julie. The 10-0 Randolph Macon win was just the second shutout in program history.
Greensboro men’s lacrosse set the bar high for 2005 and they knocked on the door of an NCAA berth. The Pride seeks to break down that barrier and reach the playoffs for the first time in 2006.
