#3 Roanoke 13, Greensboro 2

Greensboro, N.C. -- Jon Mason scored five goals to lead visiting #3 Roanoke (11-1) to a 13-2 win over Greensboro College at Pride Field on Wednesday. Mason's last tally was his 50th goal of the season.

Pride Head Coach Dan Cetrone wanted to control the ball and keep the score close, which the home did for most of the game. GC defenseman Kevin McDermott potted an unassisted goal with 6:53 to tie the game at 1-1. 

The score remained 1-1 after the first period, 3-1 at the break and 6-1 after three periods. RC's big period came in the fourth when they scored seven times to GC's one.

After McDermott's score, Roanoke netted nine straight scores until Matt Perry directed a high shot past goalkeeper Matt Maladon (15 saves) with 4:17 left in regulation. For Perry it was his 26 goal of the season.

The shots were relatively even, with Roanoke leading 41-34. GC, however had to battle for a good look at the goal every time. The Maroons had the edge on face-offs, 11-4. The stingy Maroon defense held an opponent to three or fewer goals for the fourth time this year. 

The Pride got a fine game in goal by junior Corey Reina. He tied a seson-high with 16 saves. 

The Pride dropped to 7-5 with the loss. GC concludes the regular season with a game at Villa Julie on Saturday and vs. cross-town rival Guilford next Wednesday.
