Greensboro College men’s lacrosse finished with an 8-6 record. The Pride closed the year with four straight wins and won six of its last seven games.

Seniors were a huge part of the team’s success. Goalkeeper Corey Reina and attackman Matt Perry stole most of the headlines. Perry again led The Pride in scoring and closed his career third on the all-time points chart. Reina, a four-year starter in the cage, was ranked 15th in the nation among D-III goalies. Senior defender Jon Murphy cemented a back line that allowed an average of just nine goals each game.

Following the season, Perry was named a Scholar All-American by the United States Intercollegiate Lacrosse Association (GC's first), a USILA honorable mention All-American and was selected to the prestigious North-South game.

A business major, Perry recorded a 3.43 grade point average and majored in business. Perry scored one goal as the Division III senior all-stars were defeated, 17-6, by standouts from DI and II at Villanova University during the men's lacrosse championship weekend.

Murphy and Reina were selected co-most valuable players for the '06 Pride team. For Reina, it was his fourth time earning or sharing that distinction.

The nine seniors of 2006 helped GC post a 32-25 record and they did not have a losing campaign the past four years.

GC was edged out of a pool B NCAA tournament bid by three other clubs with similar credentials.

“We started with a 2-5 record so I’m really proud of the way our team stuck together this season," said Coach Dan Cetrone. "We ended on a high note and expect that momentum to carry over to 2007.”
