Pride Men's Lacrosse Posts 5-9 Season; Brooks Set Program Record

The Greensboro College men’s lacrosse team fielded a young roster in 2007, seeking to replace a number of key contributors who helped to produce two straight eight-win seasons. As an NCAA independent, The Pride once again faced a difficult schedule that included six nationally-ranked teams.

GC recorded five wins on the year, including convincing back-to-back victories over Marymount and Lees McRae. The Pride also went on the road to upend a familiar Pride foe—Christopher Newport—by a score of 19-10 in the first men’s lacrosse meeting between the two teams.

Individually, freshman Randy Brooks set a new single game record with seven assists—also the second most in NCAA D III—against the Captains.

Offensively, sophomore Neal McKinney paced The Pride with 23 goals and 13 assists on the season. The green and white also received strong play from seniors Andrew Carey, Chris Peterson and Matt Ziminski. Sophomore team MVP Mike Foderaro had a strong year (148 saves) in goal for GC.

The men’s lacrosse season—and the 2006-07 GC athletics year—in victorious fashion. Greensboro College bested cross-town rival Guilford, 8-6, in a battle under the lights at Jamieson Stadium on April 24.
