Swimming Closes With Strong Kick
The 2002-03 Greensboro College swim team finished
the year 4-8, and placed 12th at the Atlantic States Championships.
The Pride started the year with a 50-38 win over
Limestone College at Hanes Gymnasium Pool.
In January, GC swam to three straight wins. The
Pride beat Salem College— 64-25—at home, and had road wins over Limestone,
52-40, and Salem College, 112-65.
A season highlight included senior Jessica
Heckert setting a new Pride swimming record in the 1000-meter free.
Her time of 13:13.78 broke her own record.
Pride Head Coach Kevin Thornton will miss
graduating seniors Heckert, Rachel Babcock,
and Tabitha Backus. Yet with 5 returning
letterwinners and a promising recruiting class, he is optimistic heading
into his fourth year at GC.
