2004 Pride Softball
Has Memorable Season

The Greensboro College softball team had a transition year in 2004 in more ways than one.

New GC Head Coach Kama Tucker brought high-energy and enthusiasm to the program. She also relied on underclassmen throughout the lineup. While the team finished 14-18-2 overall, there were many memorable highlights during the year.

The Pride had two 3-game winning steaks during the season. GC also enjoyed doubleheader sweeps over Southern Virginia, Mary Baldwin, Guilford, and an exciting whitewash of conference-foe North Carolina Wesleyan.

More importantly, GC won two games at the USA South Tournament for the first time in program history. The Pride then battled in a closely-contested game against Ferrum, and fell one game short of the semifinal round.

The Pride was extremely competitive in its games this year. Ten 10 of GC's losses were by three runs or less.

Junior outfielder Frances Constantino again had another standout season. She batted .398 and led the green and white in nearly every offensive category. Two Greensboro College student-athletes earned all conference honors: Constantino and Jamie Pittman
