Virginia Wesleyan 6, GC 5
Greensboro, N.C. -- Visiting Virginia Wesleyan came from behind for a 6-5 win over Greensboro College in the first game of a doubleheader at Salvation Army Field on Sunday.
GC held a 5-3 lead after five innings before the Marlins put three runs on the board in the sixth frame. It all came with one swing as VWC's Kim Mulholland belted a three-run home run to left center for the winning margin.
Freshman Katie-Meghan Anderson and Jennifer Sherrill both went 2-3 with one run scored for Greensboro. Jennifer Simms tripled and knocked in three runners in the fourth inning for Gc.
Jamie Pittman pitched a compete game and took the loss. She gave up only three earned runs, struck out five and allowed no walks. Pittman and The Pride were felled by eight fielding errors in the game.

Greensboro, N.C. -- Virginia Wesleyan handed Greensboro College a 9-0 defeat in the second game of a Sunday doubleheader. The sweep was the first The Pride has suffered this year.
The Marlins erupted for seven runs (three earned) in the second inning off GC starter Kristen Slade.
Marlin Becky Sowell allowed just two Pride hits. Freshman Samantha Salter and Whitney Williams each went 1-2 for GC. Sowell also led VWC hitters. She went 3-3 with one run and 2 RBI.
