| Unbeaten Ferrum Defeats Methodist,

Raleigh, N.C. -- Sixth
seeded Ferrum College remains is the only unbeaten team in the USA South
Tournament, following a 7-4 victory over number one seeded Methodist College.
The Panthers scored four runs in
the first inning, led by Krystal Ellis' two-run single to left center.
The Monarchs battled back in the bottom of the second, cutting the lead
in half, scoring two runs.
Ferrum added one run in the second,
and two runs in the fourth, upping their to 7-2 entering the sixth inning.
Methodist rallied in the bottom of the sixth, scoring two runs, however
the effort fell short when Kim Cox closed the door on the Monarchs.
She pitched 1.1 innings, allowed no hits and got the save. Freshman
Krysteyn Matherly pitched five innings, allowed two runs, fanned
striking three Methodist batters and earned the win.
The Panthers were led by senior Stacy
Porter who went 4-for-5, with 2 RBIs, and two runs. Ellis (3-for-4)
added three RBIs for Ferrum. The Monarchs were led by Wendy Heath
with a 3-for-4, one run performance.
Ferrum will now face off against
the Christopher Newport/Methodist winner in the Championship, at 1 p.m.
