CNU Ousts Shenandoah , 7-4
April 16, 2005

Raleigh, N.C.— Fifth-seeded Christopher Newport knocked out eighth-seeded Shenandoah University, 7-4, on Saturday.  

The Captains took the lead in the third inning on an error by Shenandoah.  CNU added two runs in the top of the sixth, and four runs in the seventh, holding off a late Hornets rally, to take the victory.  Janet Fairchild earned the complete game victory for the Captains.  

Susan Ishman (3-for-4, double, run) led the way for the Captains.  Teammate Margarit Severin had a 2-for-4, 2 RBI, one run game.  

Sheryl Wilson, Teresa Prezzy, and Heather Kepple had 2-for-3 performances at the plate.  Alyssa Chapman was 2-for-4 for Shenandoah.

Christopher Newport will now face Methodist in the semifinal tomorrow morning at 10 a.m. The winner faces unbeaten Ferrum.
