Pride Fastpitch Softball Sets
Program Record With 32 Wins

Greensboro College softball finished the year with an impressive 32-10 record. The best season of GC fastpitch in program history had many highlights.

The Pride went 7-1 on its early-season Florida road trip against tough competition. Highlighting the Sunshine State visit was an exciting come-from-behind 7-6 win over Muskingum College—the nation’s number one team.

That win catapulted GC onto the national stage. The green and white earned its first ever national ranking and remained in the NFCA Division III poll for three consecutive weeks. At one point, Greensboro softball was 24-3 and rated 10th in the country.

Other highlights: GC’s sweep of 17th ranked Roanoke, as well as an impressive program-record 12-game winning streak.

GC earned six All-USA South Conference selections, led by first-teamer Jenee Johnson. The Pride was seeded third in the conference tournament. GC won two contests before being eliminated by an upstart Shenandoah team.

“This year the softball team continued to improve upon last year's great accomplishments with many new records,” said fourth year GC Head Coach Kama Tucker. “The program’s recent success is due in large part to our seniors—Margaret Hamm, Lauren Manning, and Jen Simms. However, I hope the rest of the team will return next year with the strongest yearning to go to the regionals. This program can accomplish greater things!”
