Kama Tucker enters her fith year as head softball coach at Greensboro College in 2008. The 2007 Pride softball team finished a program best 32-10 record. Early in the year, GC defeated first ranked Muskingum College. That win catapulted GC onto the national stage. The green and white earned its first ever national ranking and remained in the NFCA Division III poll for three consecutive weeks. At one point, Greensboro softball was 24-3 and rated 10th in the country. In the 2006 season, Greensboro placed second in the USA South Athletic Conference (11-3). GC also advanced to the conference tournament championship game for the first time. The Pride GC set 29 new program records and had eight all-conference honors. The squad also won The Pride of Service Award for its dedication to community service. Tucker was picked the 2005 USA South Coach-of-the-Year following GC's regular season. That team was 24-14, then a program record. Tucker's team's have improved its win total in every season she has led The Pride. Boasting a 99-59-2 (.625) record after four seasons coaching The Pride, Tucker has coached 20 all conference players. Additionally, she has mentored two CoSIDA regional academic team honorees, two all-region performers, and The Pride's first conference player of the year (Jessica Clack '06). Tucker and Greensboro College Softball worked numerous NCAA YES (Youth Education through Sports) Clinics at recent NCAA Division I, II and III College World Series. She serves on the NCAA Regional Advisory Committee and is active in collegiate clinics. Tucker also was picked to host the first ever North Carolina Nike Camp,that began in the summer of '06. Prior to coming to GC, Tucker had been the assistant softball coach at Peace College for two seasons. As a player, she was a two-time team MVP, all-conference player and tournament MVP at Barton College. A native of softball-rich southern California, Tucker served one year as the pitching coach at Tustin (Ca.) High School. Tucker excelled academically at Barton where she graduated Cum Laude with a Bachelor of Arts in psychology and religion.
