Greensboro College Tops Volleyball Pre-Season Poll

The USA South Athletic Conference has announced the results of its 2003
volleyball pre-season poll.  Greensboro College was selected to finish first
this upcoming season.

Averett is predicted to finish second. The poll is voted on by the conference
volleyball coaches. Each school could not vote for its team.

The Pride finished the 2002 regular season one game behind Conference Champion Christopher Newport. The Cougars lost to CNU in the Conference Championship match.

The Pride was 26-9 in 2002 and is seeking its first regular season title since
2000 and tournament championship since 1997. Twenty-second year Head Coach Jean Lojko and her squad open the season this weekend at the Averett
Invitational.

The 2003 USA South Volleyball Pre-Season Poll follows (first place votes):

1. Greensboro  (7) 63
2. Averett  (2) 57
3. Christopher Newport  50
4. Methodist  38
5. Ferrum  36
6. N.C. Wesleyan 31
7. Chowan  20
8. Peace  18
9. Shenandoah  11
