Five USA South Team Honors

Greensboro College student-athletes
earned five honors on the 2003 USA South Women’s Volleyball Team. The Pride
led the way with four student athletes earning awards.
Katie Smith (Colfax, NC/NW
Guilford) and Sarah Davis (Yanceyville, NC/Bartlett. Yancey) earned
first team honors. Smith, a sophomore midele-hitter, leads the team with
300 kills and 110 blocks on the season. Davis, also a sophomore setter/outside-hitter,
leads the Pride with 623 assists on the season.
The Pride also placed two players—Freshman
Lauren
Smith (Raleigh, NC/Milbrook), and sophomore Ruthanne Clark (Greensboro,
NC/Southeast/Elon)--to the conference second team.
Lauren Smith, an outside-hitter with
276 kills 10 assists and 53 blocks, was also named the USA South women’s
volleyball rookie—of the year.
The Pride (23-12, 13-2 USA South)
is seeded second in the USA South Tournament. The event is Friday and Saturday
in Wincehster, VA.November 5, 2003 –
