Coach Jean Lojko enters her 27th year as women's volleyball coach at Greensboro College in 2008.
In April of '07 she became the first active staff member inducted into GC's Athletics Hall of Fame. That distinction is truly a testament to her impressive resume.
Under her tutelage, Greensboro has earned national
rankings during four seasons and regional rankings during 13 seasons. The
Pride has claimed the conference regular season title eight times, while
winning the tournament title an additional four times.
The Pride finished 23-16 and was 15-3 in conference games in '07. GC was runnerup in the regular sesaon and at the conference tournament. It was the 19th time the program has won 20 matches or more under Lojko's guidance. Greensboro garnered its 11th straight 20-plus win season. The Pride also boasted six All USA South performers, including the Libero of the Year (Joy Daniels) and the rookie of the year (Michelle Gabson).
In addition to coaching volleyball, Lojko has other
duties for The Pride. She was promoted to associate director of athletics
at Greensboro College in August of 2002. Lojko continues in her roles as
senior woman administrator and was promoted to associate professor of physical
education in 2006.
In March, 2007, Lojko received the Empowerment Award--Coaches & Teachers at the YWCA Greensboro 1st Annual Girls & Women in Sports Awards Dinner at the Greensboro Coliseum.
Lojko is the treasurer on the AVCA Board of Directors and has served on the NCAA national and regional volleyball committees.
A Greensboro native, Lojko attended Western Guilford
High School. She completed a bachelor's degree at UNC Greensboro in 1980,
and received a master's degree in health and physical education from Appalachian
State University in 1983.
