Jason Tuggle
Jason Tuggle has been hired as head women’s basketball coach at Greensboro College, announced Pride Athletics Director Kim Strable.

A native of Eden, N.C., Tuggle has strong roots in the local basketball community. He arrives at GC after serving as an assistant coach at UNC Greensboro for the past three seasons. Under Head Coach Lynn Agee at UNCG, Tuggle handled in-state recruiting of underclassmen for the Spartans. He also ran the team’s strength and conditioning program, helped coordinate camps, and assisted with scouting.

"I'm sorry to lose Jason, but I'm excited for him and believe he is a perfect fit for Greensboro College," said Coach Agee. "Jason has a broad understanding of the game: His experience as a high school head coach and his time spent at UNCG make him a uniquely qualified for the position."

Tuggle replaces Ann Payne, who coached GC to a 7-18 record in her one season leading The Pride.

Tuggle also previously served as the head girls basketball coach at Western Guilford High School from 1997-99. He earned Coach of the Year honors in the Piedmont Triad Conference in 1998-99 after his team won the conference and advanced to the North Carolina state playoffs. Tuggle led Western Guilford to the state playoffs both years.

From 1994-97, Tuggle was an assistant coach at Western Guilford while a student at UNCG. He taught marketing at the school during the 1998-99 academic year, after spending one year teaching the same subject at Northwest Guilford High School.

A 1997 graduate of UNCG, Tuggle he earned a bachelor of science in marketing and management. He also earned his master's degree in business education at the University in 2000.

"I'm really excited about the opportunity to coach at Greensboro College," Tuggle said. "I believe the program has tremendous potential. I'm looking forward to getting started."

Tuggle and his wife Heather reside in Greensboro. They have a young daughter, Blair.
