Despite a career high 21 points by Keona Tisdale (Greensboro, NC/Dudley), Meredith College held off the visiting Pride in Raleigh, 81-76, on Tuesday night. The sophomore  made 8-16 shots in the defeat.

The Angels, who improved to 3-0, led 49-36 at the half. GC trailed by as many as 18 points in the second half and cut the lead to 4 points with 8:18 left, but got no closer. Freshman Ruthanne Clark came off the bench and contributed a GC best 16 points (8 of 8 free throws). Christina Daniels (13 points) and DaVenna Brown (11) were The Pride's other two players in double figures. Brown passed for 4 assists and Jamie Funk pulled down a team high 7 rebounds. 

MC outshot GC 47 percent (30-64) to 35 percent in the game (25-72) and out-rebounded The Pride, 50-37. Ruth Stephenson tallied 20 points for the Angels, who also had 4 players in double figures. Meredith Coach Carl Hatchell earned his 250th victory--all at MC--with the win. He is now 250-99 all time.
