Women's Basketball Head Coach

Jason Tuggle enters his sixth year leading The Pride women's basketball team in 2007-08.

The 2006-07 GC team went 18-9. Tuggle has 90 career wins, matching the most of any GC women’s hoops coach. He has a 90-47 career coaching record.

He coached the 2005-06 Greensboro College women's basketball team to its best season in program history. GC finished the year 22-8 and 12-2 in USA South conference games. The Pride won both the conference regular season and tournament titles for the second consecutive year. Greensboro again advanced to the NCAA Division III women's basketball tournament second round after defeating Moarvian for the program's firts postseason victory. After the regular season, Tuggle was named USA South Coach of the Year for the third time in his four years. 

In 2006, Tuggle coached the inaugural USA South-ODAC Senior All-Star game. He has coached two All Americas, ten all-conference, three all region and two conference players of the year during his tenure at GC.

He arrived at GC after serving as an assistant coach at UNC Greensboro for three seasons. Under Head Coach Lynne Agee at UNCG, Tuggle handled in-state recruiting of underclassmen for the Spartans. He also ran the team’s strength and conditioning program, helped coordinate camps, and assisted with scouting. 

Tuggle previously served as the head girls basketball coach at Western Guilford High School from 1997-99. He earned Coach of the Year honors in the Piedmont Triad Conference in 1998-99 after his team won the conference and advanced to the North Carolina state playoffs. Tuggle led Western Guilford to the state playoffs both years.
 

From 1994-97, Tuggle was an assistant coach at Western Guilford while a student at UNCG. He taught marketing at the school during the 1998-99 academic year, after spending one year teaching the same subject at Northwest Guilford High School.

A 1997 graduate of UNCG, Tuggle earned a bachelor of science in marketing and management. He also earned his master's degree in business education at the University in 2000.

A native of Eden, N.C., Tuggle has strong roots in the local basketball community. He played basektball and graduated from Morehead High School. Tuggle spoke at his alma mater's commencement ceremonies in May, 2007.

Tuggle and his wife Heather reside in Eden. They have three young daughters: Blair, Reece and Paige.
