GC 66, Peace 61

Greensboro, N.C. -- DaVenna Brown scored 12 points--all in the second half--and made 6-7 free throws down the stretch to lead Greensboro College (8-4, 4-0) to a 66-61 USA South win over Peace College on Sunday at Hanes Gym.

In a game that saw the lead change hands 10 times, The Pacers last lead was 57-56 with 2:52 remaining. A Brown free throw with 1:01 left put Greensboro in the lead for good at 61-60.

The Pride led 38-31 at the break. The contest was tied at 25 with 6:38 remaining in the half. GC then went on a 13-6 run for the 7 point margin at intermission. Greensboro shot 61-percent (17-28) in the first 20 minutes. GC's Christina Daniels scored 16 of her team-leading 18 points in the first half. 

The Pacers went on an 8-0 run to begin the second half and led 39-38 with 14:52 left. Brandi Williams tallied a game-high 21 points for Peace (6-5, 2-3). Lindy Cartwright scored 10 points and had 13 rebounds (7 offensive) for PC. The Pacers out-rebounded GC, 42-40, and grabbed 15 offensive caroms.

Sirlena Moore recorded a double-double with 13 points and 11 boards for GC. Greensboro's 4-0 start is the best for The Pride since the 1996-97 team began a program-best 5-0 in conference play.
