Greensboro 63,  Shenandoah  59: FURIOUS RALLY LIFTS GC TO USA SOUTH QUARTERFINAL WIN

Greensboro, N.C. -- To use a boxing analogy, Shenandoah University had Greensboro College on the canvas on Tuesday at Hanes Gym. The adage goes you have to knock out a champion, but the Hornets let The Pride up.

First-seeded Greensboro College, regular season champions of the USA South Athletic Conference, came from behind late in the second half to beat eighth-seeded Shenandoah, 63-59, in USA South quarterfinal matchup.

The Pride trailed 56-43 with 6:09 remaining. GC then went on a 15-2 run over the next 1:52 to tie the game at 58 with 4:17 on the clock. A jump shot by Jamie Funk (5 points and 8 rebounds) put GC ahead for good at 60-58 with 2:39 left.

"We made defensive stops and played the way we wanted to play at the end," said GC Head Coach Jason Tuggle. "We had some players step up at the end."

Greensboro was led by Kim Enoch who scored 26 points and 18 rebounds. Ruthanne Clark scored 10 points, including a big three-pointer and 2-2 free throws during The Pride's big run.

In a game of runs GC held the Hornets to just 3 points over the last 6:09. Shenadoah's Netagia Foreman scored 24 points and grabbed 11 rebounds. SU led at halftime, 28-27.

The Pride advances to play fourth-seeded Peace at Christopher Newport University on Friday.
