GREENSBORO HOLDS OFF MUHLENBERG, 12-11; 
GC HAS FIRST WIN OVER NORTHERN TEAM IN 5 YEARS

GREENSBORO, N.C.-- Greensboro College beat Muhlenberg College, 12-11, in a women's lacrosse game at Pride Field on Tuesday. 

For GC (2-2), the victory was its first win over a team from north of Virginia in five years. GC beat Trinity College, 10-2, in March, 1997.

GC Pulled ahead 12-9 with more than three minutes remaining. The Mules (0-1), however, rallied with goals from Lyndsey Caldwell and Theresa Lunurdi in the 58th and 60th minutes to trail by one. Yet GC goalie Stephanie Schaeffer (Davidsonville, MD) made a point-blank save with 20 seconds left to seal the game. She made 17 saves on the day.

GC's Lorin Smith (Davidsonville, MD) led all scorers with 5 goals. Rebecca Beninghove (Westminster, MD) added two scores and Laura Henry (Clifton, VA) had two goals and one assist.

For MC, Sarah Bowman and Lunurdi each tallied three scores for the Mules.
