Lacrosse Coach at Greensboro College
Gregg Gebhard has been named head women's lacrosse coach at Greensboro College, announced Pride Athletics Director Kim Strable. Gebhard was the head women's lacrosse coach at Pfeiffer University--his alma mater--from 1998 to 2002. During that time he guided the Falcons to the program's first-ever NCAA Division II national ranking. Most recently, Gebhard was head coach of Team Charlotte, a high school girl's lacrosse team. The club was organized for girls in Charlotte who did not have a high school lacrosse program. Gebhard also coached the United States all-star team at the 2003 Down Under Cup in Melbourne, Australia. His team consisted of players from all three NCAA divisions and was the tournament runnerup. Gebhard earned a bachelor's degree from Pfeiffer in 1998. He majored in sports management and minored in business administration. He also served as Pfeiffer's sports information director. "Coach Gebhard is an outstanding recruiter who built a new program that was highly competitive," Strable said. "Additionally, his skills as a sports information director should be a real benefit to our athletics program." A native of Long Island, N.Y., Gebhard was a standout player at Pfeiffer. A two-time team captain, he was picked to the All Deep South Conference team twice. In 1997, Gebhard was selected the Deep South Tournament's most valuable player. Gebhard replaces Tammy Dixon. The 2003 Pride team went 13-4--GC's best season ever--and won its third straight conference title. --PRIDE--
