Pride Women's Lacrosse Wins
USA South Regular Season Crown

The Pride women's lacrosse team finished the year with a 10-6 record. Its 10 wins were the third most in school history. GC also again won the USA South regular season championship. The Pride has won championships in 5 of the 6 years of conference lacrosse play.

The squad had a number of season highlights. GC enjoyed a five match winning streak in March. And Greensboro College recorded a conference-clinching 17-9 win over Christopher Newport at Pride Field in early April.

GC earned the first seed at the USAS tournament and The Pride went on to dispatch Averett in the semifinals. In the conference championship game, however, GC lost a heartbreaking 10-9 overtime contest to CNU in nearby Burlington.

Greensboro earned 8 all-conference selections. Leading The Pride was senior Amanda McGlaughlin. She scored 45 goals and dished a remarkable 53 assists--which led the nation. McGlaughlin was named to the USAS first team along with attacker Jenna Gast, defender Megan Barbieri and goalkeeper Kristen McGuire

"Our team wanted the conference championship and a berth to the NCAA tournament," Coach Gregg Gebhard said. "We will remember our accomplishments, but also look forward to taking the next step in 2007."
