Pride Women's
Lacrosse Wins
Placed Second in the USA South
The Pride women’s lacrosse team finished the year with a 5-1 conference mark and a 10-7 record overall. Its 10 wins are the third most in school history.
GC had a four game winning streak that culminated with a 10-5 win over Woosteran NCAA playoff team last seasonat Pride Field on March 20th. Individually, GC had a number of outstanding performers and earned 9 all conference honors.
USA South rookie of the year Christie Hebert led Greensboro in scoring and is among the nation’s leaders in goals. The freshman also tied a program record with 8 goals against Methodist. Hebert netted 56 goals along with 11 assists for GC.
With just one USA South defeat, The Pride earned the number two seed in the conference tournament. GC advanced with convincing wins over Ferrum and Methodist to reach the conference championship game.
Yet due to wet grounds and heavy rains, the contest was canceled. Since all games had to be completed by a pre-scheduled date, first seed Christopher Newport was crowned champion and earned the bid to postseason.
Seniors Jackie Cianfrani, Megan Barbieri, Jenni Duncan, Jenna Gast and Kristen McGuire closed their fine careers for the green and white. Barbieri was second in the nation in caused turnovers (69), and Duncan earned all conference honors. Gast closed her career with 133 goals, good enough for third on The Pride's all-time list. McGuire provided all conference goalkeeping for four years.
