The Greensboro College baseball team finished the
year with a 21-19 record—its sixth 20-win season in program history.
The team had a number of noteworthy streaks during
the year. After a season opening loss, The Pride won 10 straight games:
the second longest streak the program has seen. The team’s 10-1 start was
the best ever at GC.
Additionally, outfielder Jeremy
Morrison had a remarkable 26-game hitting streak during the season—a
mark that now stands as a conference record.
GC was more competitive in the extremely tough USA
Conference—a league that is strong from top-to-bottom. The Pride won a
3-game series from defending national runners-up Christopher Newport. GC
also took two-of-three games from conference champion—and NCAA-bound—Methodist
College.
Individually, GC earned five All-USA South Athletic
Conference team awards—the most honors since 1997. The Pride had two first
team picks: Morrison and pitcher-of-the-year AnDrew
Keever, as well as two other 2nd team selections: Kevin
Mong and Chad Alligood.
“Pride baseball took yet another step forward in
our quest to be champions, said GC Head Coach Ken
Carlyle. “We’re proud of the student-athletes who are helping us
battle to the top of the standings. Our talent and experience will make
us even more formidable next year.”
