LYNCHBURG, VA – Lynchburg College
(27-7) capitalized on five unearned runs on six Pride errors to defeat
Greensboro College, 11-7, in non-conference action Monday afternoon.
LC struck first with two unearned
runs in the bottom half of the first. Greensboro came back with three runs
in the top of the third, highlighted by a two-run homer by Kevin Mong.
Lynchburg rallied back tying the score at three, and eventually would seal
the deal with a three-run triple by Anthony Palmisano in the sixth.
The Pride pounded 13 hits in the
loss. Brent Cole was 3-4 for the Pride (20-18) with 1 run and 1
RBI. Mong was 2-4 with 1 run, his home run, and 2 RBI. Jeremy Egan went
2-5 with 1 RBI and Zach Tacelli was 2-4 with a triple and 1 run
scored.
AnDrew Keever, Gc's hard luck
starter, gave up 8 runs (3 were earned) in 5 innings. Brandon Jorth,
Jeff Pothoven and Chad Clark all hurled one inning. Pothoven
and Clark's were scoreless.
LC's Palmisano ended the day 3-5
with four knocked in, while Steven Scott was 3-5 with three RBI and two
runs scored. Derek Creger tossed five innings, allowing four earned runs
on six hits, to gain his sixth win on the season.
GC hosts cross-town rival Guilford
