Kevin Mong
went 3-5, with a home run, one double and 3 RBI to lead Greensboro College
to a 9-6 win over Christopher Newport on Sunday at War Memorial Stadium.
With the win,
The Pride (16-6, 4-5) won the three-game series with the Captains--the
nation's third ranked team. GC knocked 15 hits on Sunday.
"I tells our
guys that if they play every day like opening day, they won't be beat,"
said Pride Head Coach Ken Carlyle. "In the games we've lost, we've
been flat. We were ready to play today."
Jeremy Morrison
went 3-4 with 2 runs and one RBI for The Pride. Morrison has now hit safely
in his last 25 games. Chad Alligood and Brent Justice each
had 2 each.
Matt Tully
relieved starter Chatham Bray and earned the win. Tully threw 4
1/3 innings and allowed no runs and just 3 hits. Chad Clark pitched
the ninth inning and got the save.
